Thieves target car GPS systems

THIEVES on the hunt for GPS navigation systems on the Coffs Coast have struck again.

In the latest daring robbery they smashed the front driver’s side window on a sedan at Opal Cove Resort late on Monday night and stole a Navman GPS from the centre console.

This follows a string of weekend break-ins at Opal Cove and Pacific Bay resorts targeting 14 cars and their GPS systems.

Most raids happened under the cover of darkness in dimly-lit areas of the carparks.

Another break-in was reported at the Waterside Gardens Caravan Park at Bonville.

Police are amazed the thieves responsible for this crime spree haven’t yet been caught in the act.

Investigators are urging locals and visitors not to become easy prey for thieves by removing the expensive navigation systems from their cars.

If you have information which can help with this ongoing investigation, contact Coffs Harbour police on 6652 0299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
