ROCKING OUT: This Saturday’s Open Arms Festival is set to be bigger and better than the impressive inaugural event last year. CHRIS RIX
GET your party shoes out and your festival face on – the 2009 Open Arms Festival is about to hit Coffs Harbour.
Bringing some of the biggest names in the Australian music industry to our shores, this year’s festival, to be held tomorrow at the Coffs Harbour Showgrounds, promises take a step up from last year’s inaugural event.
“It’s definitely going to be bigger and better than last year,” event organiser Jeff Moss said.
“We’re really keen to give local people the opportunity to be a part of something that can put Coffs Harbour on the map, something that stops us being bypassed by all these major bands.”
While there’s no doubt the biggest drawcard for this year’s festival is the line-up of awesome local and national bands – Aussie hip hop kings, The Hilltop Hoods, for one – there’s plenty more for people to be excited about.
More than just music, the all-ages event will also have graffiti displays, food stalls and performances as well as activities for the whole family all throughout the day.
“Australia’s best graffiti artist will be on hand doing displays on big scaffolding which will be really cool,” Mr Moss said.
“It’s going to be an awesome day and night, a lot of fun with open minds and a friendly environ-
ment.”
Gates open at 11am, camping is also available Friday and Saturday night.
