Joshua in national team

Boom sport Futsal is on a roll and the Coffs Coast has produced another national representative.

Joshua Rees from Coffs Harbour Christian Community High School has been honoured with selection in the Australian Vikings Futsal team to tour Brazil in May, 2010.

The tour party will visit Brazil’s Soccer Federation training camp in the mountains above Rio de Janeiro, the famous SMC Futsal School of Excellence in Belo Horizonte as well as the Atletico Soccer Club where they will train with the national league team.

The touring squad will also see the excitement of a National league game.

Josh plays for the Coffs Harbour Vikings Futsal Club at Sportz Central and was selected for the under-15 Northern New South Wales Futsal team in July.

He played at the National School Vikings Football Championships in Albury during the school holidays.

Northern NSW played against teams from Far North Queensland, South East Queensland, New South Wales Metro and Tasmania, with Josh completing the series as top scorer with 16 goals.

This helped his team finished third in the competition.

Away from Futsal, Josh has starred as striker in the Boambee under-15 football team as well as representing Northern NSW in the state championships.

Until the tour Josh will be busy training and fundraising, while working extra shifts at McDonalds during the holidays.
