Torso found in creek

POLICE and SES crews have converged on a property west of Coffs Harbour following the discovery of human remains in a creek.

A dad and his three kids made the gruesome find on the 42-hectare property at Dairyville at 4pm on Sunday.

The lower half of a man's body was found tangled in flood debris and may have been there for a couple of weeks, said Coffs/Clarence crime manager Detective Inspector Cameron Lindsay.

Specialist police including divers and SES crews are now searching the property to find the other half of the body and other clues.

Investigators are also examining missing person's reports to identify the remains.

If you can help with the investigation, contact Coffs Harbour police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
