Nymboida bushfire 'suspicious'

A FIRE at Nymboidaon Sunday has been labelled 'suspicious' by the Rural Fire Service(RFS), with police now investigating the cause of the blaze.

RFSincident controller for the Clarence Valley, Stuart Watts, said it wasall action when they got the call about 1.45pm. Four tankers attended,supported by one fixed-wing water-bomber and a helicopter.

Mr Watts said the reaction paid off as the fire was brought under control in less than two hours.

The fire broke out at Blaxlands Flat off Armidale Road about 30km south-west of Grafton.

MrWatts said it was 'minor' compared with other recent events, but oneproperty under threat was saved by the 'gallant efforts' of the firecrews.

The fire was declared contained at 3.30pm.
