MOTHER Nature put on a spectacular aerial display for the Coffs Coast yesterday.
This photo was taken during the day by a Coffs Coast Advocate photographer - and what a sight it is. Technically called “cirrocumulus”, the clouds are apparently not uncommon in our region.
“Today was a particularly good example of the different layers of cirrocumulus,” Coffs Harbour Bureau of Meteorology duty observer Roger Brown told The Coffs Coast Advocate.
“It's a bit hard to comment about why they were here when we don't have the temperatures for that high, but it could be attributed to the front that came through last night and the result of the strong winds at that level today.”
The clouds were sitting at 24,000 feet and were formed mainly with ice crystals.
