TODAY'S weather forecast for the Coffs Coast is thankfully a mild day with scattered showers.

And that news will be music to everyone on the Coffs Coast after the deluge of the past 48 hours.

No significant rain has been recorded in Coffs Harbour since 10pm on Tuesday evening.

But rain gauges at Red Hill recorded 444mm over the 24 hours to 9am Wednesday, with 395mm recorded at Crystal Creek; 272 at Dorrigo's Mountain Top gauge and 304 at Cooks Creek (Kalang) and 273 at Bowra Sugarloaf.

The heavy falls followed 102mm recorded at Red Hill on Tuesday, 124 at Mountain Top; 196 at Crystal Creek at 118mm at Kalang.

Coffs Creek at the Grafton Street Bridge peaked at 5.14 metres at 6.15pm on March 31 and the level fell to 1.35 metres by 7am Wednesday.

The Palms Shopping centre opened for trade on Wednesday, after floodwaters raged in and around the Coffs Harbour CBD late Tuesday.

Centre manager Lynda Saunders said management responded quickly to the emergency.

“The centre has a standard procedure, which it puts into practise,” Lynda said.

“In this case, the emergency procedures worked well for the centre, with a small amount of water entering the centre.
