THE health of Bellingen Shire's rivers will be put to the test, with a survey of boating patterns of the Bellinger and Kalang rivers starting this weekend.

As part of the Healthy Rivers program, Bellingen Shire Council will be conducting a survey of boating patterns in the estuaries from March 29 to May 2.

Acting general manager Peter Wilson said boating, tourism and recreational impacts were identified by the community as priority areas of the Bellinger River Health Plan.
