IT WAS an endorsement for Rally Australia that is sure to live long in the minds of a new batch of rally fans.
The world's leading drivers, who are famed throughout Europe, were humbled by relative anonymity as they entered Coffs Harbour's Orara High School.
After an hour spent signing autographs the drivers left the school yard having won over a heap of new fans.
By the end of the Coates Hire Rally Australia, starting on Thursday, they'll no doubt be households to many more on the Coffs Coast.
Conveying an important message to the students, the drivers participated in a CAMS Ignition session, a pre-licence driving training program for teenagers.
"The Ignition program is CAMS' contribution to Australian road safety and part of the FIA's Action for Road Safety campaign and is one of the most unique and promising road safety initiatives," CAMS President Andrew Papadopoulos said.
