Truckie caught with drugs
A URUNGA truck driver has allegedly been caught with cannabis in the cabin of his semi-trailer in Adelaide.
The 38-year-old was also caught driving under the influence of drugs, police allege.
South Australian police said the Urunga man has been one of 17 drivers arrested in the state for driving under the influence of drugs in recent times.
Following his arrest the truck driver was issued with a driver defection notice for 24 hours.
The local truckie was detected driving under the influence of the drug as part of a blitz, known as Operation Austrans.
The collaborative multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional operation targets road safety issues amongst the heavy vehicle road transport sector.
The operation has run annually since 1989, and this year's focus has been on drug offences.
