TALENTED Coffs Harbour galloper Symposium started his latest campaign with a first-up victory in the KFC Handicap (1300m) at Eagle Farm today.

The gelding won the feature Daniel Baker Sprint at the 2011 Coffs Harbour Gold Cup meeting but his form tapered off in three runs prior to a summer spell.

Trainer Trevor Hardy bypassed yesterday's local race meeting in favour of the Brisbane event and reunited his horse with jockey Jason Taylor who was winning rider in the Baker Sprint, for a happy outcome.

Taylor found cover in the early stages of the race and gradually improved his position into the straight, timing the victory run to perfection.

Symposium paid well with an $8.80 win dividend in NSW.
