STUDENTS from Sandy Beach Public School were able to hear from a couple of their footballing heroes this afternoon without leaving the classroom.

Through a video conference call via the internet, Manly players Jason King and Liam Foran spoke to the students at Sandy Beach about reading as part of the Read With An Eagle program.

The year five students excitedly had their questions ready to ask the stars when the broadcast began.

Possibly the most excited person in the group was teacher Kylie Reedy who admitted that she is a fanatical Sea Eagles supporter.

Mrs Reedy said that the program had plenty of benefits for the students.

"It's particularly great for the boys because it provides motivational reading material for this," Mrs Reedy said.

"The players are great role models for the boys but it's not only about sport but reading as well and inspiring the boys to be reading."

There were just as many excited girls involved in the session as well, just as eager as the boys to learn something new in a different environment to the usual classroom.
