String along with Reinhold

Guitar virtuoso Reinhold Westerheide.

INTERNATIONALLY renowned guitarist and composer Reinhold Westerheide hits town tomorrow to present a special workshop at Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium.

The workshop will explore a wide range of guitar techniques and musical styles and is suitable for all guitarists, students, teachers and performers aged 12 years and over.

Reinhold blurs accepted musical boundaries, bringing elements of classical, jazz and rock music practice together.

Rhythms such as the samba, tango and bossa will feature prominently, as will mini-performances by Reinhold and Conservatorium teacher, Karin Braidwood.

There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions about guitar playing, composing for guitar, and life as a professional performer travelling the world.

Now on his first trip to Australia, Reinhold has performed with the Netherlands Dance Theatre on tours throughout Europe, Indonesia and Japan.

Also a composer, Reinhold has written works for guitar, orchestra, chamber music groups, film and for theatre.
Cost is $15 and $10 for Conservatorium students - bring your own guitar (and amplifier if necessary).
