THIS time last year, Sally Johnson was preparing for the Coffs Harbour Showgirl competition.

A year on and it's a whole new group preparing to represent Coffs Harbour as Showgirl in the Year of the Farmer.

Sally - who went on to win the 2011 Coffs Harbour Showgirl competition - has some simple advice for the new contestants.

"Just to be confident, be true to yourself and have lots of fun," she said.

Thursday night saw a cocktail party held for finalists in the categories of Coffs Harbour Miss Showgirl, Miss Teen and Miss Junior Showgirl for 2012.

This year's Showgirl co-ordinator, Jessica Wilson, was a winner in 2010 and went on to the regional finals in 2011.

The winner of Miss Showgirl, to be announced tomorrow, will go on to the regional finals early in 2013 in the hope of getting through as a finalist for the Sydney Royal Easter Show 2013.

This year's Miss Showgirl will be carrying out her first official task tomorrow afternoon, carrying the Australian flag at the show rodeo.
