WHILE it may not have made them popular with wives, girlfriends, or daughters, almost 30 staff from James Frizelles Automotive Group in Lismore managed to keep their moustaches until the end of Movember to raise $1500.

In an effort to support the annual campaign to raise money for prostate cancer and other men's health issues, the men of the Frizelles Group held a competition to see who could grow the best mo.

"I think it's important that we did it as a team, so we were able to enjoy it and rub each other and get into each other," service manager Jason Coran said.

The Frizelles Group gave $10 to the effort for every car sold in the month, which helped them achieve their total of $1500.

Sales consultant Lawrence Murphy's impressive new moustache gained him the $50 prize, much to the disdain of his daughter, who when discovering that he was not going to shave, told him he couldn't come to a school event and she was taking her mum instead.

Mr Coran was also told by his wife and three daughters that he shouldn't grow a moustache.

However, both agreed donating to the cause was worth the criticism.

"I think it's awareness, and it's also about being able to talk about it and get everyone thinking about it," Mr Coran said.

While Mr Coran said probably 99% of the team would shave now the contest was over, he also said they were happy to use their camaraderie to make money for a "great cause".
