WAS IT a case of vandalism, spite - or a combination of both?

Whatever the circumstances, the owner of a black Ford Falcon FG XR6 is looking at a total write-off after the vehicle's interior was destroyed by fire on Saturday night.

Just after 8pm, fire and rescue crews and Coffs Harbour police were alerted to a suspicious blaze along Hulberts Road at Toormina.

Arriving at the scene they discovered the smashed-up Ford sedan on fire and tangled up in a fence.

Sawtell fire officers extinguished the blaze which continued to smoulder for some time.

Witnesses said substantial damage was done to the inside and significant panel and suspension impacts had taken place on the outside.

No occupants were found with the vehicle.

The Hulberts Road area is a known hot spot for incidents of this type.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information is urged to contact Coffs Harbour Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 .
