Glamourous NYC quartet fly in for Spring Series show

THEY have travelled all the way from the Big Apple to the Big Banana.

New York City based Enso String Quartet come with a very fine pedigree and will be displaying their world-class skills as part of the Coffs Harbour Music Society's Spring Subscription Series on November 16, 8 pm, at CHEC's Lecture Theatre D.

After forming at Yale University in 1999, Maureen Nelson (violin), John Marcus (violin), Melissa Reardon (viola) and Richard Belcher (cello) have received praise from all over the world for their jaw-dropping prowess and edge-of-the-seat vitality.

In 2010, their debut recording was described as an auspicious start - and earned them a Grammy nomination.

The ensemble's name, Enso, is derived from the Japanese zen painting of the circle which represents many things; perfection and imperfection, the moment of chaos that is creation, the emptiness of the void, the endless circle of life, and the fullness of the spirit.

Their performance marks the last of the Coffs Harbour Music Society's Spring Series, which has seen world-class musicians visit the Coffs Coast - get in for the last opportunity to see music of this calibre in 2012.
