Music lover looking to sell assets

AGED 18, Gordon Noscov bought his first LP record.

"I had an old gramophone at home and I played the Spanish Caprice," he said.

Today, more than five decades later, he has 18,000 records.

And Mr Noscov, 75, has decided the time has come to let go of his collection; he's calling for expressions of interest from potential buyers.

"You reach a time in life when you've got to change direction a bit," he said.

"I'm going to ask for expressions of interest from someone who wants to buy the whole lot."

The "whole lot" includes all the records (and the cupboards that hold them), a 7ft high organ, a good quality record player and amp and an old gramophone, which will play the few hundred 78rpm records in the collection.

"It's a very very old organ," he said. Mr Noscov's passion for music spans a life

time. "My life has been full of music... good music still gives me goosebumps... it makes me feel good," he said.

"I think music and good health go together."

A pianist and organist, Mr Noscov said he formerly played the music himself rather than a recording.

It was only in the last 20 years that his collection had grown.

Mr Noscov said he began accompanying his son to garage sales and had been "bitten by the bug".

Each time he brought home a musical treasure.

But he regards himself as more of a hoarder than a collector.

"Gathering is probably a better word.

"I wouldn't say I'm a collector... I just got them and I took an interest in them and it started to grow and grow," he said.

Recently, Mr Noscov decided he had better "do something" with his collection and began cataloguing it.

He said his interest now was in classic films.
