Joske through to round of 96 at Vans World Cup of Surfing
VALLA Beach surfer Heath Joske has battled through to the next round of the Vans World Cup of Surfing in Hawaii following a solid performance in the round of 128.
Joske beat out renowned American surfer Dane Reynolds and Adrein Troyon of France with a score of 10.87 to finish second in the heat.
Interesting conditions made the going tough for Joske however the 24 year old found a way to score valuable points on the double-overhead swell Sunset Beach had to offer.
The Coffs Coast local will need to be at his best if he is to make it past the next round after drawing a tough heat in the round of 96.
Standing in his way will be Hawaiian young gun Koa Smith who is sure to take full advantage of his local knowledge.
Competition is set to resume tomorrow however with waves on the decline event organisers may opt for a lay-day.
