Law Week is offering free legal advice to Mid North Coast residents this month.

MID North Coast residents will be able to access free face-to-face legal advice at a series of community being staged during National Law Week, May 14-20.

Locals will be able to obtain information from local legal service providers, including NSW Trustee and Guardianship, Legal Aid and the NSW Police.

Law Society president Justin Dowd said Law Week is about bringing information directly to the public in their local community.

"Knowing where to obtain information about the law can be an overwhelming experience," Mr Dowd said.

"Law Week is aimed at helping people know more about the law, the legal system and how to get answers to common legal problems.

"These events are also aimed at the whole community, from seniors to those seeking information on a range of topics, such as making a will, neighbour problems and discrimination issues.

Law Week events on the Coffs Coast include:

* Discrimination: It's not just a black and white thing - a discussion group on the basics of discrimination and the legal options available at Kempsey library.

* Neighbours and the Law: A talk on how to solve common neighbourhood disputes at the Coffs Library.

* Legal studies session: A presentation by local courts, NSW Police, Legal Aid and solicitors at the Coffs Library.

* Talks on making and updating a will: Given by the NSW Trustee and Guardianship at Port Macquarie.
