VOTE counting has resumed in the Division of Cowper with updated figures due to be posted by the Australian Electoral Commission later today.
Sitting member Luke Hartsuyker has tightened his grip for a fifth term, with 53.06% of the primary vote by the time counting was suspended at 11.14pm last night.
That represents a 2.29% swing to the Nationals.
All candidates received swings apart from Labor's Alfredo Navarro, who has seen party support slide 2.16% since the 2010 election.
The Greens' Carol Vernon is up 3.06% and first time candidate Bethany McAlpine representing the Christian Democratic Party (Fred Nile Group) has seen support rise 0.17%.
With the Palmer United Party standing a candidate in Cowper for the first time, Rod Jeanneret has attracted 6.57% of first preferences.
