Dance jazz guru crosses genres

IF you have ever seen footage of smoky jazz clubs, you will know that jazz has always been dance music.

So it comes as no surprise that Timmy Trumpet has successfully boogies his way across genres from jazz to the realm of global dance music.

Now as a combined DJ/Instrumentalist, Timmy Trumpet is ranked in the top 10 DJ's in Australia's In The Mix poll.

He has performed in clubs in Ibiza and Miami, and mixed both Ministry of Sound and Pacha albums.

"After discovering jazz I began to jam over everything and anything, mainly stuff on the radio," the former Sydney Conservatorium of Music student said.

"It wasn't long until I discovered house music, met a DJ, then played my first gig.

"I drove home that night knowing this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life."

Timmy Trumpet is coming to the Coffs Hotel on November 9.
