Connecting through song
LOCAL country rocker Rod Dowsett could be Coffs Harbour’s next big export.
The latest in a string of amazing achievements, Mr Dowsett has just received news one of his songs, ‘Skinny White Legs’, is a finalist in the 2010 MusicOz Awards Judge’s Choice category. He also has three songs up for votes in the People’s Choice category.
“To put your songs up in front of a panel of the top Australian music industry heads and leave an impression is very rewarding,” Mr Dowsett said.
The song, recorded locally at Pete Dyball’s Studio, Valleysounds, in Dairyville last year, is an emotionally-charged ballad Mr Dowsett is very proud of.
“I like to paint pictures with lyrics to be as expressive as possible with the least amount of words,” he said.
“Skinny White legs is a highly emotive song. I’ve had people walk out crying while I’ve played it, come and bought the CD with tears rolling down their face and tissues in their hands.
“To connect with people through a song and experiences that I’ve had in my life is fantastic.” You can vote for Mr Dowsett’s songs at http://www.musicoz.org/roddowsett
