Hancock champing at bit to defend irowoman title

IRONWOMAN Courtney Hancock will begin defending her Kelloggs Nutri-Grain Series crown in Western Australia on November 29-30.

It will be the same venue at Smiths Beach where she began last summer in devastating style, smashing her rivals through surging surf in the opening two rounds.

HOME GROWN: Courtney Hancock will appear in a TV reality show before the Ironwoman series defence begins.

The series then continues at Surfers Paradise on December 20-21 with the final rounds in Newcastle on January 3-4.

The venues were chosen based on their wave action and on the recommendation of the athlete advisory panel.

"I can't wait for the series to begin," Hancock said.

"It's excellent to be able to compete at Surfers Paradise again.

"The bigger waves suit me best and I want to win the title again this year."

Hancock was last on home turf as an ambassador at World Rally Australia in September but will have a TV presence here soon.

In preparation for the Nutri-Grain series, Courtney has filmed a two-part television series with Commonwealth Games hurdler Michelle Jenneke.

It will be shown on the Nine Network (NBN) on November 23 and 30.
