APPRENTICE jockey Jackson Murphy has been employed to ride the top-weight Shazza's Bubbles in Saturday's Bowraville Cup.
The Ross Stitt-trained mare was lumped with a weight of 61kg by the handicapper for the Nambucca River Jockey Club's big race but Murphy's 3kg claim brings last year's Sawtell Cup winner right into contention.
The only Coffs Coast horse in the Cup field is the Brett Bellamy-trained Purrvosa. After a win at Grafton two starts back, the Purrealist gelding started slowly at Newcastle last week and looked unsettled for the first half of the trip in the Provincial Cup.
In-form hoop Peter Graham will mount up on the only entrant from north of Bowraville.
In the field of 10 plus an emergency, most of the entries come from Kempsey, Port Macquarie or Taree but there is one making a decent trip for a crack at winning the Cup.
Annandale Lass is making the trip up from Cessnock and will be the bottom weight once the claim from apprentice jockey Carla Dougherty is taken into account.
Bellamy has one other runner on Saturday, Up There Kawana will be racing in the Maiden Plate over 1370 metres.
