Big, vicious feral cat attacks budgie man

CAT ATTACK: Don the Sawtell budgie breeder was attacked by a feral cat.
CAT ATTACK: Don the Sawtell budgie breeder was attacked by a feral cat.

A BUDGIE breeder from Sawtell says he'll think twice about tangling with a feral cat again.

Don was set upon by an irate moggie as it sat on top of his aviary in the wee small dark hours of the morning last week.

Nine days since the attack, and Don's still nursing bad scratches to his forearm.

"I just put my hand up to shoo it off the cage and bang, the cat latched on to my arm and scratched its nails right down my arm," Don said.

"It was feral, this thing.

"I just want to warn the public about this big black cat.

"I hope it is also a lesson to people.

"They should never release unwanted cats into the bush.

"Imagine if a kid had come across it."
