Be intimate with cellist at Bellingen Hall tonight

Cellist and songwriter Ben Sollee.
Cellist and songwriter Ben Sollee.

WE LAST heard him in a glorious bootleg recording with Missy Higgins.

Now boundary-crossing cellist and songwriter Ben Sollee is returning to Australia as one half of a duo with percussionist Jordon Ellis.

Originally from Kentucky, USA, Ben's cello is far from the classical background instrument so easily pictured.

Not usually imagined as a toe-tapping instrument, Ben's cello tunes are more indie folk than not and his smoky vocals match.

His shows are allegedly known for their intimacy - personal songs written and played with passion.

Ben's fourth album, Half-Made Man, provides most of the songs in his current set.

Check out Ben Sollee and Jordan Ellis on tonight at the Bellingen Memorial Hall, or at bensollee.com.
