Get on board for the Lachlan Valley Railway’s North Coast Steam Train Tour! Bruce Thomas

IT'S all aboard for train spotters and casual travellers.

Tickets go on sale on Monday for Lachlan Valley Railway's North Coast Steam Train Tour.

Steam-hauled shuttle services will run each day of the long weekend, from Friday, June 8, to Monday, June 11.

"It could not have worked out out better, to return to Coffs Harbour during the Wintersun Festival," tour Marketing Coordinator John Healey said.

"Wintersun is all about retro and nostalgia, and it doesn't get any more retro than an 1890's steam locomotive."

The steam engine to be used on this tour is the '3237', built in 1892 and is still going strong.

It will pull a series of heritage "corridor" carriages, and passengers will be able to experience the sights, sounds and smells of rail travel from the past. The steam-hauled service was last in town in April, when all ten trips sold out.

Two of the train trips on the Friday will run from Coffs Harbour to Raleigh, with the remainder of long weekend shuttles running north to Coramba.

Tickets are available from Coffs Harbour Railway Station, 02 6648 3701.
